David Risley – Artist Talk
David Risley is an artist, writer and curator, who ran his eponymous gallery in London and Copenhagen for 20-years. David Risley Gallery represented Dexter Dalwood, Mike Silva, Alex Da Corte, Michael Simpson, Anna Bjerger, Jake and Dinos Chapman, and Keith Tyson.
He was founding curator of Bloomberg Space, London (2002-2005); and in 2003 founded Zoo Art Fair, which was the first parallel fair to Frieze London, gaining instant notoriety. In 2023 he founded Chart Art Fair in Copenhagen.
David has curated exhibitions for public institutions and major music festivals in Scandinavia. He has taught at Royal College of Art, London; Goldsmiths, London; Sotheby’s Institute, London; and Royal Danish Academy of Fine Art, Copenhagen, where he also served as a member of the steering committee as advisor to the Dean. David writes regularly for museums, galleries, artists and magazines.
He studied Fine Art at Bath School of Art.
