Course Description

Create portrait and figure paintings in oil colour from photographs. Award winning artist Mark Entwisle presents an online oil painting course suitable for all artists from beginners to professionals. Over six weekly sessions participants will complete three oil paintings from photographic reference images. 

Mark offers step-by-step demonstrations of how to make an initial pencil sketch; techniques for creating underpainting in grisaille; and colour mixing using the ZORN palette (a palette of four colours attributed to Swedish painter Anders Zorn). Alongside painting techniques Mark will give an overview of the oil paints and their special properties; how to set up a workstation; and best practice for cleaning up including safe disposal of excess materials. 

This practical course is encouraging and supportive, and available to anyone with the necessary materials, a table-top to work on and access to Zoom. Session recordings will be automatically available for one week after each session for absentees or those wishing to enjoy the class again.
