About
This spring, Winsor & Newton invites artists around the world to take part in Art Mail, a global campaign celebrating creativity, connection and community through the simple act of sending a postcard. Bringing together a wide and varied group of artists, Art Mail encourages everyone, from established creatives to those picking up a brush for the first time, to share their view of the world through watercolour. Paint a postcard, send it in, and become part of a growing global gallery of work.
These free workshops are an invitation for you to join Art Mail and submit your watercolour postcard into the gallery. Each monthly workshop features a unique theme and is led by a distinguished artist. Participation is free and open to watercolour artists of all levels. Winsor & Newton Art Mail Watercolour Workshop | Abstract Figures with Laxmi Hussain | May 16 2026
Explore figurative composition and playful experimentation with colour alongside Laxmi Hussain. This workshop encourages you to experiment with materials, play with an abstract understanding of the figure using line, and create multiple postcards during the session.

Artist Laxmi Hussain:
Laxmi Hussain has been painting and drawing for as long as she can remember. But it is only since the birth of her first child that she turned her passion into a profession. Re-inspired by the irrepressible joy in creativity shown by her children, Laxmi picked up the pencil again, finding artwork to be a valuable means of reclaiming her own identity amid the emotional blurrings of motherhood.
Working in different media, and usually at night, Laxmi is driven by experimentation, constantly exploring new techniques. Often, her work includes elements that appear incomplete, obliging the viewer to pause and engage with the artwork, and to fill in the absences themselves.
Laxmi has been commissioned for artwork or illustration by numerous private and corporate clients including the Henry Moore Foundation, H&M Home, Tate, Royal Academy of Arts, Vans, Derwent Art, Chronicle Books, and Astrid & Miyu. She has been featured in prominent publications including Vogue, TimeOut, Elle Decoration, Financial Times and The Sunday Times.
