This spring, Winsor & Newton invites artists around the world to take part in Art Mail, a global campaign celebrating creativity, connection and community through the simple act of sending a postcard. Bringing together a wide and varied group of artists, Art Mail encourages everyone, from established creatives to those picking up a brush for the first time, to share their view of the world through watercolour. Paint a postcard, send it in, and become part of a growing global gallery of work.

These free workshops are an invitation for you to join Art Mail and submit your watercolour postcard into the gallery. Each monthly workshop features a unique theme and is led by a distinguished artist. Participation is free and open to watercolour artists of all levels. Attendees can choose to observe or paint along during the session, creating their own postcard-sized artwork inspired by the workshop.

Create your own botanical watercolour postcard in this hands-on workshop with artist Andrew Carter. With step-by-step guidance, you’ll move from simple pencil sketches to expressive mark making and confident colour mixing. You’ll also learn the basics of watercolour materials, how to set up your workspace, and easy clean-up tips—while exploring creative ideas inspired by the natural world.

Artist Andrew Carter:

Andrew Carter is a London-based painter, printmaker and teacher. He studied Fine Art Painting at Central Saint Martins and completed an MA in Printmaking at Camberwell School of Art.

With over 25 years of teaching experience, Andrew has continued to develop his own artistic practice, focusing in the past decade on relief printmaking. His work explores shape, colour and pattern, drawing inspiration from both the creative process and the natural world, and is realised through limited edition prints, artists’ books and installations.

He has exhibited widely, including at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and contemporary print fairs. His work is held in major public and private collections, including the V&A Museum, the British Library and the University of Warwick.
