This spring, Winsor & Newton invites artists around the world to take part in Art Mail, a global campaign celebrating creativity, connection and community through the simple act of sending a postcard. Bringing together a wide and varied group of artists, Art Mail encourages everyone, from established creatives to those picking up a brush for the first time, to share their view of the world through watercolour. Paint a postcard, send it in, and become part of a growing global gallery of work.

These free workshops are an invitation for you to join Art Mail and submit your watercolour postcard into the gallery. Each monthly workshop features a unique theme and is led by a distinguished artist. Participation is free and open to watercolour artists of all levels. Attendees can choose to observe or paint along during the session, creating their own postcard-sized artwork inspired by the workshop.

Step into the wild with expressive watercolour in this workshop with Alastair Gordon. Explore intuitive mark-making and the joy of capturing landscapes with energy and atmosphere. Alastair will demonstrate his process for working quickly and responsively, balancing careful observation with instinct, using his recent paintings of the Outer Hebrides as inspiration.

Artist Alastair Gordon:

Alastair is a UK-based artist, represented by a London gallery, and exhibits internationally. He has taught at Leith School of Art in Edinburgh for over ten years and runs a residency for early-career artists in East London. He was awarded the inaugural Shoesmiths Painting Prize and has been shortlisted for several awards, including the Dentons Art Prize and Jackson’s Art Prize. A monograph of his work was published by Anomie in 2022.
